FEATURED SPEAKERS
Why do managers at all levels have a tendency to shy away from making the tough decisions? We will review why this occurs and discuss several recent examples of once-leading companies and how their leaders backed away from obvious but difficult decisions and now find themselves heading toward bankruptcy. Most importantly, we will cover several key principles which, if followed, can enable a leader to provide the kind of courageous leadership that can maximize their company's success. More...

Carlton in part expanded his knowledge of the credit industry by leading projects and assignments supporting GE's Global business Operations. More...
Keeping up-to-date with Washington, and the regulatory and legislative changes that affect our world can be a complex, and often difficult task. With Bob Belair and Stuart Pratt on the job, however, this can be less painful. Their insights into the complex issues, the changes, and the contemplated changes have been well appreciated at past events, and we're especially pleased to have these two industry leaders returning to share their ideas and knowledge on the current regulatory and legislative trends, and what to expect from Washington.
Often, the "right" legal decision in terms of procedure, evidence, trial tactics, or settlement strategy is not the best business decision. Outside counsel are not always sensitive to protection of the client's brand, protection of lending relationships, protection of business partner relationships, SEC considerations, and other regulatory concerns. In addition to his work as an adjunct law professor (teaching consumer protection law) Mr. Newburger, a nationally-known defense attorney and Texas Super Lawyer, teaches a graduate-level class on legal issues for managers. This program will cover communication gaps between lenders and their attorneys and how those gaps can jeopardize the corporate brand and critical business relationships.
The CFPB is going strong into its second year as a federal agency and its impact has definitely been felt in the collection and recovery industry. Protecting the consumer is a good focus for our businesses. John Tonetti discusses how "what is the right thing to do" makes a better business model than "what can I get away with." He will also address expectations of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), living with Supervision, and some of the differences between the Supervision and Enforcement groups.
